Frequently asked questions
How do I extract a color from an image?
Click the target pixel in the uploaded preview. Its position maps to the original image and HEX, RGB and HSL values appear with copy buttons.
How do HEX, RGB and HSL differ?
HEX encodes red, green and blue in hexadecimal; RGB lists channel values; HSL represents hue, saturation and lightness for the same color.
How are transparent pixels represented?
Alpha is shown separately and partially transparent pixels use RGBA. Fully transparent pixels can have zero color channels and alpha 0, which is not visible black.
Why do nearby JPEG pixels have different colors?
Compression, antialiasing, gradients and edge blending affect individual pixels. This tool reads the clicked pixel without averaging a region or inferring a brand color.
Can I keep several colors or choose one directly?
The latest eight colors appear as swatches. Select one to revisit its codes, or choose a color directly with the color control.
