Frequently asked questions
How do beautifying and minifying JSON differ?
Beautifying adds indentation and newlines for readability; minifying removes formatting whitespace. Both preserve string contents and valid numeric values rather than changing their meaning.
Will very large integers be rounded?
Parsing and serialization preserve numeric precision rather than coercing values into JavaScript floating-point numbers. Your receiving system must still support the chosen data types.
Why do comments or trailing commas produce errors?
Standard JSON does not allow comments, single-quoted keys or trailing commas. Correct the syntax; JSON5 and JavaScript object literals are not treated as valid JSON.
Does valid JSON satisfy my API or schema?
Not necessarily. Syntax validation does not validate required fields, JSON Schema, permissions or business rules. Valid JSON can still be unsuitable for an API.
How do I save the formatted JSON?
Download the formatted JSON as a new file. Text files are limited to 1 MB; the original stays unchanged.
