How do I review and extract receipt fields?

How are items and amounts extracted from receipt text?
Fields follow date patterns, total labels and line-ending amounts rather than understanding every receipt layout. Missing fields stay blank without invented items or calculated amounts. Correct them against the picture.
Should I review receipt fields before CSV export?
Yes. Check dates, total versus subtotal, decimal points and item amounts. CSV saves the fields you reviewed; it does not certify their financial accuracy.
Does Receipt OCR convert currency or calculate tax?
No. Amounts follow the source receipt without exchange conversion, added tax or recalculated item totals. Missing currency or amount information is not guessed.
Can it read multi-column, folded or handwritten receipts?
You can try, but item-to-amount matching can be wrong. Use a flat, sharp, upright image and review both text and fields. Complex tables and handwriting require manual correction.
What image size and resolution limits apply to Receipt OCR?
Each image is limited to 10 MB and 12 megapixels, one at a time. A small file can still exceed the pixel limit; crop the text region or resize the image before recognition.
Does Receipt OCR require registration?
No account is required and the tool is currently free. Download results before closing or refreshing the page. Initial loading needs an internet connection; processing speed depends on the device and file size.
