Frequently Asked Questions

Does cropping erase hidden content?

No. Cropping changes the visible page area. Use redaction in Edit PDF to permanently remove sensitive content.

What units are crop margins in?

Margins are percentages of page dimensions, with 0–45% allowed per side. Left and right use page width; top and bottom use height. Cropping 10% from each horizontal side leaves 80% of the original visible width.

Does it automatically detect white margins?

No. Margins are set manually. Headers, footers and paper sizes can differ, so review pages before applying one crop across them.

Should I crop or resize to make an A4 document?

Use Resize PDF to fit content proportionally onto A4. Cropping removes visible edges and neither guarantees A4 size nor reflows text.

Why is the cropped file not much smaller?

Cropping changes the visible boundary and can leave underlying content in the file. Use PDF Compression when file size is the goal.
