Does the rates API require payment or an API key?
The Frankfurter public API is free and requires no registration or API key. Cached rates are reused when you change currencies or edit the amount.
Will the currency result match a bank exchange?
Not necessarily. Dated reference rates exclude bank or payment-provider fees and spreads and are not live trading quotes.
Why can the rates date differ from today?
The European Central Bank publishes reference rates on business days, so weekends and holidays use the latest published data. Results show the date and identify older cached rates when used.
